Funding the promotion of Lynton & Lynmouth
Finding funds to purchase the various printed initiatives required to promote Lynton & Lynmouth is always a challenge. In fact, it’s the primary reason we need to charge for membership. Every penny from memberships goes towards promoting Lynton & Lynmouth and the Lyn Valley in either print, online or in person.
You may, or may not, know, that funding is not automatically provided, or offered, by the Lynton & Lynmouth Council or North Devon District Council. And long gone are the days when the tourist industry was funded by the Government in the form of Tourist Information Centres. As each year passes, the UK’s visitor destinations are faced with challenges of self-funding, if they wish to sustain their visitor economy. Wherever possible additional funding and support is sought from; larger local tourism businesses, available government funds or localised fund-raising activities.
