Visit Exmoor AGM & Business Networking Day – March 2019
A great day spearheaded by Jennette Baxter.
Jennette presented Visit Exmoor’s mission and evidence of increased social media activity. And their Marketing Strategy for 2018-2020
- To successfully market the area as a leading destination for year-round countryside, coast, heritage and outdoor experiences.
- To encourage people to visit ‘more than once’ and to inspire Exmoor fans to become ambassadors and influencers.
- To engage local businesses to support our mission and to create a unified tourism voice for the area
Visit Exmoor’s ‘Eat Exmoor’ project was voted one of the Top 3 Tourism Projects in the UK by the British Guild of Travel Writers.
Focus was given to celebrating150-years since the publication of RD Blackmore’s Lorna Doone. A new printed guide highlighting local events and landmarks was introduced including an open-air theatre event. Additional focus was given to PR & Social Media opportunities.
- Dan James - Exmoor National Park Authority news and a statistical look at Exmoor visitor trends. Surveys showed that 99% of visitors voted their Exmoor experience as good or very good.
- Nina Goodwin - The Digital Age and Rural Tourism – Digital Trends for 2019 and a high-end look at how tourism is leaning towards the technical solutions.
- Jason Broughton - The Four Pillows of Highcliffe House and how this 5-star B&B came to be voted one of the best in the South West.
- Hilary Bradt MBE – My Favourite National Park Exmoor is the first UK National Park to have its own Bradt Travel Guide – the fastest growing UK series in the country. Visit Exmoor worked tirelessly with Hilary Bradt to secure this publication and it was a great opportunity for local businesses to advertise nationally and internationally. Hilary delivered a wonderful account of her fondest memories of Exmoor, one of her favourite national parks.

It was a great opportunity to meet other Exmoor and North Devon businesses. We were armed with leaflets, a slick presentation and lots of enthusiasm. We plan to attend this event each year it is available.
