It’s the perfect place for those that love the beach. Famous for its miles of uninterrupted sands it is a dream come true for surfers, kite-surfers, paddleboarders and sea swimmers; there really is enough space for everybody. The beach was voted one of Britain’s best, and probably amongst the best in the world. During peak seasons, Lifeguards are present to ensure safe swimming. Visitors and surfers come from all over the country to enjoy great waves and clean water.
The picturesque village of Mortehoe dates back to Norman times and the local church there is worth a visit. The Mortehoe Museum offers a glimpse of ‘Old Morte’ and its turbulent history of smuggling and shipwrecks. Although, nowadays Mortehoe is probably most known for the intriguing Morte Point and Rockham Beach – both located along the South West Coast Path. The whole area is a beautiful haven for wild flowers and wildlife.
Croyde is a magical location famous for its superb sandy beaches and breath-taking scenery. The village remains unspoilt and is steeped in old-world charm but bustling with a young surfing community and cool vibe.
In the heart of North Devon, just 45 minutes from Lynton & Lynmouth, is the charming village of Braunton. Brauton is brimming with sophistication with a range of delightful shops and cafes. The vibrant atmosphere comes from the many surfers and water lovers that flock here for the beach at Saunton Sands.
