Tucked away in the scenic heart of Lynton, just moments from the dramatic Valley of Rocks, Lyn Tennis Club offers a warm welcome to anyone keen to pick up a racket – whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious beginner. A small but enthusiastic club, this hidden gem is open to locals and visitors alike, making it a unique and inclusive place to enjoy tennis in North Devon.

Courts with a View – Open Year-Round

The club boasts two outdoor courts surrounded by Exmoor’s natural beauty. Open all year round, the courts are accessible from early morning through to dusk. Visitors have priority on the lower court, while members enjoy use of the top court.

• Ad hoc court hire: £10 for 2 hours

• Temporary visitor membership: £20 for up to 2 weeks of unlimited access

• Key deposit: £10 (refundable)

• All payments and keys are handled by Mr. Baker at Lyn Candles, located opposite the convent on Lee Road.

Equipment is available in a lock-box on the lower court for those who haven’t brought their own.

Whether you’re visiting Lynton & Lynmouth for a weekend or live nearby year-round, everyone is welcome at Lyn Tennis Club. The atmosphere is friendly, encouraging, and social. You don’t need to be competitive or experienced – just willing to give it a go.

The club’s philosophy is simple: tennis is for everyone. From children just starting out, to retired visitors rediscovering their swing, Lyn Tennis Club promotes sport, wellbeing, and community spirit.

Membership Options

If you’re staying longer or live locally, joining the club offers great value and year-round access:

• Adult Membership: £55/year

• Junior Membership: £30/year

• Family Membership: £100/year

• Social Membership: £10/year (non-playing supporters welcome!)

Get Involved – Social Tennis & Events

Regular Club Social Tennis sessions take place on:

• Saturdays, 2–4pm

• Tuesday evenings, 6–8pm (during summer months)
  Both sessions are weather dependent.

And mark your calendar! The club’s Open Fun Day will be held on 17th May 2025, from 1.45pm to 5.00pm – a great chance to meet members, play a few games, and enjoy some classic Lynton hospitality.
