Combe Martin is a sleepy little seaside resort, known for its rocks, minerals and remains of past mining.

Start this walk in Combe Martin’s main car park on the seafront and follow the South West Coast Path to the East, towards Lynton & Lynmouth.

The cliff face of the Great Hangman is approx. 800ft, with the actual summit being over 1000ft. It truly is a stunning area to walk and if you wanted to make it a long walk, you could walk from Combe Martin to Hunter’s Inn.

The walk back from Great Hangman to Combe Martin is mostly downhill, following delightful trails and lanes.

If you’re just exploring the Hangman Cliffs then consider also a short walk alongside the rock pools along the beach at Combe Martin, they’re really fascinating.  NB: This path can be quite slippy.
