Stunning Food
We were looking for dinner as the restaurant at the Rising Sun was closed. Bookings must be made in advance and menu choices pre-ordered. This was done very efficiently via email to Sarah. We probably didn't get the best atmosphere as it was a Monday night and only two tables were occupied, so it was a bit surreal! The food is stunning though. A real focus on local produce. Spicy pork salad was truly outstanding, really capturing Asian spice on deliciously cooked crispy tender pork cubes. The venison main was also excellent. My wife had the rice pudding, for dessert which she said was the best she had tasted. Great selection of local gins as well. The most amazing dinner we had whilst away. Everything was locally sourced, cooked to perfection and we could not fault the service either. Compared to lunches we had out on the moors the price was so reasonable especially for the quality and portion size. Wish I was able to have what everyone else was having too as all the food looked phenomenal. Such a quaint little restaurant with limited tables. If you can get in it is THE BEST restaurant in lynmouth!! By a country mile!Book your table quickly!
We stayed at the Bonnicott House Hotel and ate in at the Bay View Restaurant every night. The menu was good, enough choice to be interesting, but not so large a menu that you know that the food is not freshly prepared! They keep their food suppliers very local, including the excellent supplier of Wicked Wolf Exmoor Gin. We particularly loved the scallop starter though all the seafood was great. The chunky Shepherds Pie (using local lamb) was unlike any other and absolutely outstanding. I can't praise the quality of the food enough but this was equally matched with the friendly and helpful service. There were interesting cocktails on offer in the cosy bar and a good selection of wines. If you can possibly book a table at this popular restaurant you will be very lucky.Advanced Booking Is Essential
