St. Vincent Guest House
Clive & Maria took over in August 2020 want to welcome you to St Vincent Guest House – we offer 1 of the competitively priced and we hope the best bed and breakfast accommodation in the area.
Completed in 1834 in the oldest part of Lynton, this beautiful Georgian House was originally called St Vincent Villa and was a modest family home built by Master Mariner Thomas Geen, who named the house after his ship and allegedly built it for his mistress Mary.
Many of the original characteristics are still present including the central feature of the house – the impressive regency staircase, beautiful open fireplaces, the servants’ garret rooms at the top of the house, flagstone and wooden floors, meat hooks hanging from the pantry ceiling (in the private accommodation downstairs), the outbuildings and the original iron railings at the front and back of the property, which seemed to have escaped the call in the First and Second World Wars for iron for munitions.
This stunning North Devon Georgian House is full of history, character and charm, together with the odd sightings of friendly ghosts as well as free fibre optic broadband. The two bedrooms, in what were the servants’ rooms, have baths with hand held shower’s with low ceiling’s and can now both be set up as either twin beds or super king beds.
The rest of our bedroom’s have shower’s and currently the single room (Culloden) is not en-suite, with it’s shower room across the hall, but we have plans to change this to an en-suite over the coming months. All our bedroom’s are named after ships that took part in the battle of the Spanish and English, off the coast of Cape St Vincent, Portugal on the 14th February 1797.
There is a painting of the battle and a map showing all the ships names on 1 of the walls in the Guest Dining Room. We understand that this is the battle in which Nelson got his Lordship.

Stayed here for three nights in early September. Superb hosts with lovely pets, nothing was too much. Great location in the heart of Lynton with pubs and cafes close by. The accommodation itself is steeped in history which adds to the experience. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Breakfast excellent with various options. I would stay here again if I come back to the area.
We had a lovely stay here. The owners were attentive and friendly. The house itself is a lovely old building with a story behind it. The owners knew loads of really interesting history about the property. They’re really proud of it- rightly so. Breakfast was great- with lots of choices for just about everything!
We had a great two night holiday in Lynton in sunny July with three other friends. Maria and Clive looked after us with wonderful friendliness despite the tropical heat . Excellent breakfasts (particularly the full English!) and nice afternoon cream teas. Comfortable rooms ,that coped well with the heat, in a very pretty, interesting house. One of the best B&Bs we have visited. Highly recommended.
