The Appledore Band – Festive Afternoon Performance LIVE at The Ancient Mariner, Lynmouth

The Appledore Band – Festive Afternoon Performance
Sunday 30th November – The Ancient Mariner
Round off the weekend with an uplifting afternoon of festive music performed by The Appledore Band.
With roots tracing back to 1880, the band’s history includes its evolution from the Boys’ Brigade Silver Band formed in 1942. Although the Brigade eventually closed, the band continued under the dedicated stewardship of Mr Arthur Boyles, whose exceptional service was recognised with an MBE in 1999. His portrait still hangs proudly in the bandroom today.
Now known affectionately as “The Mighty Appledore,” the modern band is made up of around 35 players spanning an age range of more than sixty years and representing professions from teaching and emergency services to banking, electrics, and even professional tennis coaching. United by talent, passion, and a touch of silliness, they have become one of the most inclusive and joyful brass bands in the region.
The band remains committed to preserving the traditions of brass banding while embracing modernisation and providing free music education to the local community. Led by their exceptionally talented Musical Director, Nicky Braund, they perform purely for the love of music — and for the joy it brings to their audiences.
“The secret to happiness?… join Appledore Band, the rest happens naturally.”
A heart-warming festive performance not to be missed.
