All Year Round

The Den is a delightful 19th Century self-catering holiday property, set in the heart of Lynton’s historic Old Town on North Devon’s rugged and beautiful coast. Views from the top floor stretch out over Lynton’s rooftops, to Hollerday Hill and beyond.

The Den is laid out over three floors and has a room on each floor, including a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and double bedroom, with en-suite facilities featuring a walk-in shower.

Lynton benefits from many cafes, pubs and restaurants. You’ll be able to find everything on hand from a Devon cream tea to a gourmet restaurant meal. The supermarkets are well-stocked and on the doorstep, if you prefer dining in or just want to grab a few essentials.

With its own delightful cinema and craft centre, and a wealth of independent shops, there’s plenty to look at in Lynton. Pretty Lynmouth Harbour with its restaurants, shops and Exmoor National Park Visitor Centre are a short walk away. The world-famous Victorian Cliff Railway links the twin villages (for most of the year).

The Den makes an ideal base for touring Exmoor, making the most of the spectacular walks or enjoying the abundant wildlife, including red deer, Exmoor ponies and the wild goats at Valley of Rocks.

Take a short drive and you can explore Porlock, Dunster, Dulverton, Woolacombe, Croyde and beyond, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can enjoy magical night skies, peace and tranquillity in Europe’s first dark-sky reserve.

The Den is a short stroll from the South West Coast Path and gives access to many walks, to suit all. The Valley of Rocks is nearby and the walk to Watersmeet is wonderful.

This cosy cottage benefits from electric heating and a log burner so can be enjoyed year-round. Bedding and towels are included and a local housekeeper is on hand, should you need them.

There is plenty of public car parking just a few minutes walk from The Den. * Car Parking Permits are available for an extra cost. The Park Permit covers 7 local car parks in Lynton & Lynmouth)

We welcome one pet and know that there are many dog-friendly shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants locally so no one needs to miss out!

We had an absolute fantastic time; it literally felt like ‘home’ as soon as we stepped in. The Den has everything we could possibly need. Being in the heart of Lynton and having everything close- by added to the enjoyment. It’s the perfect location to use as a base to get about North Devon. We wish we were able to stay longer as it’s been a thoroughly relaxing, great stay.

Perfect for me on my own wanting a quiet break. The Den is in a central location in Lynton so close to small supermarket, various eating places, churches - RC and Anglican and very near to the cliff railway down to Lynmouth. The Den has been very well thought out and is beautiful in its simplicity. It was a wrench to have to leave it. Gary the housekeeper is great if you have any queries and is ready to 'sort out' any little glitches - not that I found any! Already thinking about my 4th visit before the end of the year I hope.
