Business spotlight: Southcliffe B&B
Fifteen months ago, James and Stuart left rural Wales to embark on a new adventure, taking on Southcliffe Bed and Breakfast.
We introduced James, Stuart and the new look Southcliffe in April of last year as part of our Meet the Owner series, full article can be found on our page.
An overdue catch-up had us questioning the couple on how their first year had been and what inspires them to continue within the Bed & Breakfast sector. Plus they let us know how they feel they have a unique offering, whereabouts are their favourite places, as well as a sneak peek of what’s to come from them for the coming season.
What inspires you about continuing your business?
We absolutely love Lynton and Lynmouth and feel so privileged to live in such a charming property. We feel a sense of duty towards Southcliffe to update and restore it sympathetically and we really enjoy doing so.
Where are your favourite places to go in the Lyn Valley
The Valley of Rocks, without a doubt! The view is breathtaking whatever the weather and never fails to impress. We also enjoy visiting the pubs and restaurants and we’re lucky to have so many great eateries in this area; we relish in recommending them to our guests.
What is unique about Southcliffe B&B?
All of our rooms are individually decorated offering both comfort and style. We offer an extensive breakfast menu, giving guests as much choice as possible. All food is freshly cooked to order and we pride ourselves on offering as much locally sourced, fresh produce as we can.
Can you give us a Sneak Peek of what’s coming next for Southcliffe?
One of our rooms is currently receiving a ’Southcliffe’ makeover and will be ready for the start of this season.
Our future plans include revamping the breakfast room and Stuart will continue with his passion for working wonders in the garden.
