Exmoor Dark Skies Festival: The History of the Fly Agaric Mushroom

Step into the strange and symbolic world of the fly agaric mushroom – red-capped, white-spotted, and rich in myth. Join us at Root Project for an evening with writer, folklorist and Exeter University lecturer Dr Andy Letcher, as he traces this iconic fungus through shamanic rituals, fairy tales, folklore, and psychedelic theory.  We’ll gather indoors at Oare House, welcomed with drinks and seasonal nibbles before diving into stories, science, and symbolism.  Whether you’re a naturalist, fungi-lover or simply mushroom-curious, come along to an evening of story telling and wonder.
