How long since you rode a bike – yesterday or yesteryear? It does not matter – it is still one of the best ways to reconnect with the world, feel the fresh air and take a leisurely look at new places and landscapes.

Exmoor became well known as a Cycling destination after it featured in the 2007 Tour of Britain. Since then the Exmoor Cycle Route has been founded and special events such as the Exmoor Beast Cycle Challenge take place every October. So it should come as no surprise that we have also fitted Caffyns into this scenario as national cycle routes and the Exmoor Cycle Route all pass close by!

We cater to individuals, families and groups, as well as schools, colleges and corporate clients. Yes, there are some challenging terrains suitable for the hardy off-roader, some lung-bursting hill-climbs for the fitness-driven, and some wonderfully clear roads just begging racers onwards, but there are also plenty of places for the less competitive, the more sedate, and for families with kids who just want to enjoy cycling as part of their holiday. The family shown here hired three of our Saracen bikes, took a day out and cycled to Simonsbath over the high moor, down to beautiful Exford village, and then back over the moor to the top of Porlock Hill and back via Countisbury…” about 30 miles…and we loved it, it was great”!

To this end, we keep a stock of our high quality, safety-checked, modern bikes, tagalongs and child seats at Caffyns, so that if the mood takes you, there’s the opportunity to leave the car at the campsite and go and explore Exmoor’s landscape, attractions and villages. And since Caffyns is already at the top of the moor, you do not have to tackle the awesome prospect of having to cycle up Lynton or Porlock Hills (the steepest in England) to get to where the real views and the open countryside are.

So, what are you waiting for? Doesn’t matter if you haven’t ridden a bike for ages; here’s as good a place as any to get back in the saddle!
