What inspired you to open ‘A Little Del’ in Lynton, North Devon?
Most people have a vice or two – ours has always been food and drink! And ever since we moved to North Devon in 2012, we have discovered that the South West is home to a whole host of fantastic, artisan and award winning food and drink producers.
The first lockdown in 2020 saw us both without income and presented us with a ‘now or never’ opportunity. So we signed a lease on an outlet, made some calls to the afore mentioned producers, and so the business was born!

What makes ‘A Little Deli’ a special place to shop?
Our primary focus is on artisan and/or award-winning products from the England’s South West, and all of our products are tried and tested by us personally to ensure we are happy to put them on our shelves! As with most of the family run independent retailers who rely on their business to earn a living, we prioritise customer service.
We are always happy to advise whenever we are asked and we offer samples of our alcoholic products as a standard.
What do you enjoy most about owning ‘A Little Deli’?
Being a start-up business owner is exceptionally hard work – it is all consuming and will require most of your energy most of the time. But the pay off is that all of your efforts and energy go directly to benefiting your business, and in turn you! But the best part of owning a retail business without doubt is sourcing new products.

What are your favourite things to do in Lynton & Lynmouth?
Considering Lynton & Lynmouth is a small town in a remote location within the Exmoor National Park and along the North Devon coast, there is actually so much to do and so much to love about the area. But one of our favourite things to do is looking for gifts for friends and family from any of the wonderful independent retailers that are here. You can get anything from handmade candles to premium gins!
