Come and enjoy an evening of inspiring poetry and music with award-winning poets Jane Lovell, Mark Haworth-Booth, Chris Waters and Greg Clare, accompanied by singer songwriter Maddie Jane Warren. Winner of the Ginkgo Prize and other major national poetry awards, Jane Lovell’s work focuses on our relationship with the planet and its wildlife. Her latest collection, ‘On Earth, as it is’, is published by Hazel Press. Jane lives in North Devon on the edge of the Valley of Rocks.
Mark Haworth-Booth, poet and historian of photography, worked as a curator at the V&A Museum in London from 1970 to 2004. A winner of the Exmoor Society Poetry Prize, he writes about his North Devon habitat and its wildlife. His most recent book of poems is The ‘Thermobaric Playground’.
Chris Waters has worked as a teacher, musician, storyteller and furniture-maker. He has four poetry collections, most recently ‘On London Clay’, a family memoir, and his work has won prizes in national competitions. Chris lives in Totnes and is a former Writer-in-Residence at Appledore Book Festival.
Greg Clare’s poetry is grounded in a concern for nature and the environment and explores the human impact on landscape and wildlife. Greg regularly performs at various venues around North Devon and at the St Ives Music and Arts Festival in Cornwall. He is currently working on his first collection.
Maddie Jane Warren is a singer songwriter from North Devon whose music has taken her across the world from Glastonbury to Louisiana. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings and personal experience, her songs capture the essence of heartfelt storytelling. Her latest album is ‘Things Don’t Last Forever’.
