Coachman's Quarters (New for 2016)

The new Coachman’s Quarters was a complete refurbishment of the owners flat in our house built in 1856. While searching for a name, we realised that it was in fact the old stable and Coachman’s room next to the old coach house, hence the name.

We have endeavoured to refurbish it in a fairly modern style, although with a few touches to link to its history with the Coachman. There is a large sitting room with an oak floor covered in part by Turkish rugs and with a window overlooking the sea.

This room has a large and comfortable sofa bed to allow a little flexibility when needed by guests. On a platform raised up by about 20cm and separated from the sitting room by an oak balustrade is the kitchen with good quality cooking equipment, microwave, all the other eating stuff you need and a dish washer.

There is sufficient room in the kitchen to provide a dining table with 4 chairs around it, in French farmhouse style distressed wood, matching an interesting kitchen worktop with green glass tiled splash back and dark grey ceramic floor tiles. The separate bedroom has a large king sized double bed and again has views of the sea. There is a bathroom with a large walk in shower decorated in strong red waterproof boarding with cream walls. There is a utility room with a washing machine/dryer for those moments that even though you are on holiday, it helps to wash that favourite piece of clothing.

Then finally, there is a terrace overlooking the sea with views to South Wales some 25 miles away, and of Foreland Point where Exmoor finally hits the sea and makes a spectacular view from North Walk where you can eat breakfast in the sun, or relax after taking many of the great walks that can be done straight from the front door.
